Ms. Scanlon

Hey y'all

Here is a little about me!  My name is Samantha.  My birthday is October 12 and I am 28 years old.  I am not married nor do I have any children.  I live with my younger sister and our two dogs- Mariano and Jeter (Go Yankees!).   Besides baseball, a few of my favorite things include: the color purple, jewelry, Reese's PB cups, brownies, sandals, elephants & monkeys, manicures & pedicures, chick flicks, and country music.  I also love traveling and going on cruises when I am not working!

Although I was born and raised a Yankee, my heart lies here in the south.  I relocated to Pensacola in 2010 after graduating from The College of Saint Rose in Albany NY with my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education and now consider this "home."  I say "y'all" and "fixin" as if I were born and raised in the south all my life.  I love it here; the weather, the beaches, and of course, the people.  I just miss my mom and dad who are still back in NY for a few more years until they can retire and relocate here as well!

After moving here I went back to school to get my Masters of Education Degree in Literacy Education.  I LOVE to read and reading is a necessary skill for a successful life; it makes up the world around us.  I graduated from UWF in August of 2013 with my Masters but more importantly, a passion and desire placed on my heart by the Lord to help children build a strong foundation and love for reading.

With that being said- where else better to start then where the reading journey begins- KINDERGARTEN!  I am so excited to take this journey called "Kindergarten" with you and your child!  This age group has stolen my heart right from the beginning of my career.  I have just begun my 8th year of teaching here in Escambia County.  Before being blessed to join the Molino Park family in January of 2014, I taught pre-school (age 4) at the Gibson Head Start Center.  Children are blessings and teaching them and working with them fills my heart with joy.  Thank you for trusting me with your heart.  I hope to touch their lives as much as they do mine.
