Teacher of The Year

2020-2021 Teacher of the Year

Mrs. Pam Barnes

I am so honored and blessed to be named Teacher of the Year for Molino Park Elementary! There are no words to say how privileged that I feel!  I am surrounded by so many great teachers! I love being a teacher at this wonderful school. I enjoy the people that I work with, the amazing administration and the fabulous staff! But more than anything, I love the children that come into my classroom every day!

I started my career off at Navy Point Elementary thirty-two years ago. In 2004, I transferred to Molino Park Elementary and I have loved every minute of my time here! I graduated from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama with a Bachler’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I also have endorsements in ESE and Reading. I have taught grades first, second, third, and fourth.

I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was raised in Baldwin County Alabama.  My husband, Wade and I live on a houseboat on the Tennsaw River in Stockton, Alabama. We love spending our time on the water! Together we have five children and eleven grandchildren. Besides teaching and spending time with my family and friends, I also enjoy reading, fishing, swimming, and boat riding. I am a member of Hamilton Baptist Church in Baldwin County.

I love my third graders and I love helping them become better readers! Reading is one of my favorite things to do and I want my students to enjoy it and love it as much as I do. The type of reader that they become will impact every aspect of their life.  I strive to make each student feel loved, to feel important, to feel safe, and to feel confident. When a child learns to read for the first time or completes their first chapter book, the excitement and confidence that they feel is extraordinary. When former students come back to me to share their personal accomplishments, it warms my heart to know that I have had an influence or impact on them. I want each child to know that if they are struggling with something, that I am there for them, not just as a teacher, but as a guide and as someone who believes in them. I want to connect with my children on a personal level so that I might reach them on multiple levels. I want them to succeed in their life way beyond my classroom.

I love being a teacher, I love my third graders, and I love Molino Park Elementary! Thank you for allowing me to represent our outstanding school!
